MSc Advanced Clinical Practice

Introduction

This program of study has been designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of health and social care professionals including Nurses, Midwives, Health Visitors, Allied Health Professionals and those working in the field of social care practice.

Students will be supported to develop a critical awareness of current problems and new insights at the forefront of their professional practice. Students will examine care development and delivery from their own professional standpoint and also take account of how other disciplines challenge and contribute to the quality of care delivery

MSc Applications of Psychology

Duration : One year full-time, Two or three years part-time

Introduction

For those who are eager to expand their knowledge of psychology further, this course is ideal. It is also an appropriate progression for those who are interested in vocational psychology roles which increasingly require doctorate training. With a number of roles in vocational psychology now requiring doctorate training, there is a need for students to gain experience and knowledge in order to gain a place on the doctorate programmes. The additional experience and knowledge gained from completing this Masters, better equips graduates to compete for a place on a doctorate programme.

You will be expected to demonstrate the capacity to formulate research questions, study designs, and ethical considerations, before then carrying out and reporting on your findings.

The four mandatory core modules include :

  1. Research Design and Statistics;
  2. Clinical Applications in Psychology;
  3. Psychological and Neuropsychological Assessment;
  4. Dissertation Project.

The optional modules provide the opportunity to identify a specialism which include :

  1. Educational Psychology
  2. Psychology in Practice (a placement module).

MSc Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Counselling

Duration : Two years part-time

Introduction

The MSc programme in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Counselling is an advanced professional and clinical training for students who wish to practice as psychotherapists offering cognitive behaviour therapy and psychodynamic therapy.

Having this dual track approach to understanding mental health widens opportunities to work in a wide range of mental health settings, both statutory, voluntary and private. MSc Community Nursing (Progression Route)

Duration : Two semesters

Introduction

This Progression Route course is for Registered Nurses and Midwives who hold a Postgraduate qualification in District Nursing or General Practice Nursing. The course is offered in part-time mode over two semesters. Each student will be allocated one academic supervisor. The supervisor will have an appreciation of the chosen area of study and will have a broad understanding of the health and social issues as appropriate to the research topic.

The MSc International Business and Management is designed for new or recent graduates and those with management experience.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The course aims to develop analytical and strategic management skills using concepts derived from a wide range of academic disciplines. This enables students to respond creatively and effectively to the challenges presented by a global business environment, and to broaden the range of management responsibilities they undertake.

The MBA offered at the University of Suffolk is one of the longest running MBA programmes in the UK. It is also formally accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).  This means our MBA graduates, upon meeting all relevant assessment criteria, are eligible to receive three awards upon graduation: their MBA degree,  CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership and CMI Level 7 Award in Professional Consulting. Students who wish to be awarded the Level 7 CMI Diploma will be required to purchase CMI membership at a cost of £350 per qualification 2018/2019.  This qualifies them as formal members of the Institute.

Coverage
The core programme is wide-ranging and includes modules in Operations and HRM, Financial and Risk Management, Global Economic Trends, Strategic Change Management, Strategic Marketing, Consultancy Management, International Business Strategy, and Research Methods. To be admitted to the Master of Business Administration programme applicants will need to be an international student and normally satisfy the following requirements :

  • 2.2 minimum classification or equivalent from an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject
  • IELTS (Academic or UKVI) 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

MSc Public Health Nursing

Duration : Part-time over Two Semesters

Introduction

This course is designed to facilitate Health Visitors and School Nurses who have a Post Graduate qualification in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing to attain a full Masters degree. By building on previous postgraduate study undertaken for specialist practice (SCPHN) this course continues the development of critical thinking skills required to provide high level judgement and clinical decision making in contemporary public health nursing.
